Even though the two sides shared a distrust of the West, there remained a gap between Beijing and Moscow over existing international rules, said Wu Dahui, deputy dean of the Russia institute at the prestigious Tsinghua University in Beijing.
Russia believed international rules were dominated by the West and should be removed, while China was considered a major profiteer from the arrangement of the global political and economic order, Wu said in a recent interview with World Affairs journal in China.
