Hong Kong skipper Kary Chan Ka-ying set a new Asian Games record as her side trounced Mongolia by 180 runs in their women’s cricket qualifier on Wednesday.

Chan’s 70 from 39 balls, which included 11 fours and a six, was the highest individual score by a batter in the history of the tournament, eclipsing the 63 from Japan’s Ema Kuribayashi in Nepal at the 2010 Games in Guangzhou.

Hong Kong rattled up their biggest total in T20 internationals, making 202 for four, before bowling their inexperienced opponents for 22, with Chan taking two wickets for three runs.
