Hong Kong is sending its largest contingent ever to the Asian Games, with Olympic champions, world-record holders and promising youngsters among their number.
Almost a 1,000 people will represent the city over the next two and a bit weeks, with 680 athletes competing across 40 sports, and technical officials in everything from cricket to beach volleyball also involved.
While the likes of Tokyo Games gold medallist Cheung Ka-long and double silver medallist Siobhan Haughey are expected to lead Hong Kong’s charge in the individual events, the men’s rugby team will defend the gold medals they won five years ago in Jakarta.
But Hangzhou will also be when the next generation of stars emerges.
